Defeating Devastator in DC Dark Legion’s Combat Cycle: A Comprehensive Guide
Welcome, Commanders! If you’re struggling with the Combat Cycle in DC Dark Legion, know that you’re not alone. This challenging game mode requires a well-developed roster to tackle its formidable bosses. Today, we’re discussing the Devastator.
Understanding Devastator
Devastator’s signature ability, “Ejected,” unleashes a “devastating” area-of-effect (AOE) attack. While the description suggests being thrown off the battlefield, it’s more of a powerful stomp or earthquake. A red circle will appear on your screen, indicating the impact zone. Any Champions within this circle will suffer massive damage.
Key Strategies and Champion Roles
To conquer Devastator, you’ll need:
High Single-Target Damage: Focus on Champions that can deliver significant damage to a single enemy.
Damage Over Time (DOT): DOT effects can help rack up damage for the duration of the fight.
Strong Healing: Champions like Ivy or Mera are crucial for surviving Devastator’s AOE attacks.
Tankiness or Double Healers: You’ll need a resilient Champion who can withstand heavy damage or a team with two dedicated healers.
##Recommended Champions and Team Compositions
Here’s a breakdown of recommended Champions and team compositions tailored to different player spending levels:
Non-Spenders:
Consider using your standard Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Black Adam, Mera, and Harley Quinn or Superman composition. If you have a low-investment Cyborg or Flash, experiment with them to boost Superman’s damage. Equip legacy pieces with energy gain on Cyborg or Flash to cycle their ultimates faster.
Light Spenders:
Similar to non-spenders, but you might swap in Batman or Harley Quinn for Black Adam. If you have Ivy, try substituting her for Wonder Woman to provide extra healing.
Whales:
A well-invested team like Superman, Cyborg, Mera, Ivy, and Green Arrow can achieve excellent results. If you have Joker or Sinestro, they’ll excel in this fight. If you are not running a high investment Superman, Scarecrow can be used to shield your backline including Joker and help ramp DOTs. Robin and Deathstroke could be used, but are very vulnerable to AOE.
Accessible Champions:
Flash, Cyborg, and Zatanna (who will be more easily available in the future) are solid options, even at low investment. Ivy is a great support, her vines can pull aggro, and she provides healing.
Gameplay Tips and Tricks
Superman’s Survivability: Ensure your Superman is strong and healthy, as he’ll be your primary melee damage dealer for most players.
Joker Venom: Joker’s Joker Venom DOT significantly ramps his damage in longer fights.
Cyborg’s Buffs: Cyborg enhances the damage of physical damage dealers like Green Arrow and Superman, but the team is highly reliant on Superman staying alive.
Ivy’s Aggro and Healing: Ivy’s vines can draw aggro and provide valuable healing.
Manual Control: Sometimes manually controlling your healers is better than relying on AI.
Beware of Ejected: Watch for the red circle and prepare for massive AOE damage. A well timed heal can save your team.
Example Team Compositions and Performance
Comp 1: Superman, Joker, Mera, Ivy, and Green Arrow: This composition yielded over 18 million damage in the provided gameplay footage.
Comp 2: Superman, Cyborg, Mera, Ivy, and Green Arrow: This comp provides more damage ramp for superman, and therefore can lead to higher scores.
Important Notes
Devastator is a crucial boss to master for gem acquisition.
There were 3 devastator bosses, but the developers are working to reduce that number to 1. Killer Tank comes to the game in late March, and we expect one of the remaining Devastators to be replaced in April or May, which will bring us to seven different Combat Cycle bosses (one for each day of the week). Be on the lookout for more guides discussing each of these bosses!
